A technical challenge? Explore it and build a prototype.Explore the Lab

TechnoConception Lab · Prototyping & technical exploration

Test the approach behind your technical idea.

An idea to build, a system to understand or an integration that may not work? Bring the technical question. We agree on a focused prototype or experiment, build and test it, and explain what the results establish so you can decide what to pursue.

Bring us the challenge

What would you like to make possible?

A description, sketch, example or existing system is enough to start the conversation. Your project may call for investigation, reverse engineering, a new combination of components or a custom build. These are examples of questions we can explore together.

Understand an existing system

Examine behaviour, data flows and dependencies, using reverse engineering where needed, then reproduce or test the relevant behaviour in a focused experiment.

Connect components that do not work together yet

Build a connector or demonstration that tests how systems, formats or interfaces can exchange the required information.

Adapt an open-source solution

Examine an existing component, adapt the useful parts and test whether it can meet your particular requirements.

Bring an unusual idea to life

Build the essential interaction or mechanism for an original product, experience or approach, even when there is no established implementation to follow.

Test a recent technology

Try a tool or technical approach with your inputs and constraints to see what it makes possible and where its limits appear.

Explore an AI capability

Prototype an assistant, document workflow, voice interaction or other AI feature when it is relevant to the problem you want to solve.

The means depend on the problem

AI, open source and custom development, used where they help.

Something concrete to examine

A prototype to try, with results you can review.

The work centres on a runnable prototype or technical experiment, defined around your objective. Practical checks, a review with you and the agreed refinements help you understand the result and decide what to develop next.

  • A prototype or experiment you can access or run in the agreed environment.
  • A demonstration and the agreed test results, showing the behaviour observed with the selected inputs and connections.
  • The agreed project source and configuration, with setup instructions and usage rights set out in the proposal.
  • A short walkthrough, live or recorded as agreed.
  • Clear handover notes explaining what was tested, what works, what has been simplified, any unresolved obstacles and possible next steps.

Understand the challenge. Explore it. Build and test.

We focus the work on the question that matters most, the essential behaviour and the conditions in which it needs to work. The scope can include examining an existing system before choosing how to prototype.

  1. 01

    Understand your challenge

Explain the idea, the system involved, what is blocking progress and what you want to make possible. A complete technical specification is not required.

  2. 02

    Define the experiment or build

Agree on the objective, demonstration or test criteria, scope, price, delivery date, required access, external-service costs and included feedback.

  3. 03

    Investigate and prototype

We examine the relevant parts of the system, test suitable approaches and develop the prototype. You review the result with us and receive the agreed refinements.

  4. 04

    Test and hand over

Review the observed results, receive the agreed prototype, source and practical handover, and identify what another iteration would need to address.

Before we start

Does my project have to involve AI?

The lab works on technical challenges with or without an AI component. We may use AI to help investigate or develop a solution, just as we may use open-source software, recent tools and custom code. The choice depends on your objective and constraints.

What if we do not yet know whether the idea is feasible?

We scope an experiment around the uncertainty, including what will be built or examined, the inputs, the checks and the evidence to review. This work can reveal a viable approach, a limitation or a route that does not work under the tested conditions. We report obstacles promptly and agree on any change to the approach, scope, fee or schedule. The proposal sets out how unmet demonstration criteria are handled.

How much does a prototype cost, and when can it be delivered?

The price and delivery date depend on the investigation needed, the behaviour to demonstrate, the inputs, integrations and presentation requirements. We agree on both in the proposal once the scope and required access are understood. Tell us about any presentation or test date you have in mind.

How will I use the prototype after delivery?

The proposal specifies where it will run, how you will access it, the duration of any hosted access and responsibility for ongoing service costs. It also identifies the source and configuration delivered, setup instructions, usage rights and any relevant third-party components or licences.

What does the prototype demonstrate?

The demonstrated behaviour must actually run. Simulated connections and sample data are identified clearly. Results establish what was observed under the agreed test conditions; they do not establish that every input or operating condition will work. More features, wider use and production deployment can be scoped separately.

How is this different from founder mentoring?

In the lab, TechnoConception carries out the agreed technical investigation and development. With founder mentoring, you build your project with your own tools or team, and receive advice on product and technical decisions.

Discuss your challenge

What would you like to understand, test or build?

Tell us about the idea or system, the obstacle you face and what would help you move forward. If you have a presentation or test date in mind, include it so we can assess the scope and schedule. No company yet? Email your idea to support@technoconception.com.
